Cadence 120 Indoor TT Set for 1/14/06

The first of four indoor time trial events is set for January 14th at Cadence 120. The course will have low grade rolling hills. It will be a great course to set your base wattage for future TT comparisons. Here's the topo map.

The TT event will run from 11:00am to 5:30pm. I'm limiting the field to 15 riders.

Here's what you need to bring:
Bike
Shoes
Shorts
Towel
Water Bottle (unless you want to share)

6 miles should take you < 20 minutes. Start training now for 20 minutes efforts.

Look for email notification to arrange for a time slot.

Indoor TT series

I'm working on the details for an Indoor TT series. Currently, I'm planning four events to be held once a month from January to April. I will bring my Computrainer for the events

Here's the current schedule:
January - Cadence 120
February - Eastern Shore Cycles
March - Pathworks
April - All About Bikes

Each event will be slightly different with regard to course topography; flat, rolling hills, hill climb and the New York City Central park course (rolling hills).

I'll post the result information on the Gulf Coast Cycle Fit website. In addition to times and placings for each event, there are additional benefits to each cyclist. I will provide information to each of the riders about their pedaling efficiency as well as the status of their race preparation.

It should be competitive and informative.

Start getting prepared. The first course is a flat 6 mile course.

Major Blog block

This is a difficult time of year for me. The racing season is so far off. The weather is getting worse instead of better and the food is getting better and more prevalent.

I was able to get out for 60 miles on Saturday. It was a the perfect ride for this time of year. No one was in a hurry. Just a good steady pace down to Dauphin Island. We had a one exciting moment when GK did a power burn out around one of the corners.

So, where's the training going?

I'm trying to figure out how to concentrate my training effort for the winter season. It looks like I'm going to start training in the evenings. At least, I'm going to try it for a few sessions. This will be concentrated base training with an emphasis on pedaling efficiency. Also, roller sessions for smooth pedaling.

I've accomplished a couple new skills on the rollers. I can't say that I've mastered them yet but they are getting easier.
1) Rolling to a stop on the rollers, then start pedaling again. The goal is to keep your balance as long as possible in a track stand then start riding again.
2) Riding the rollers with the rear wheel on the single drum and the front wheel between the two drums. This is extremely difficult because the bike wants to wash out on you in the rear and if you compensate too much with the front wheel, you will ride right off the side. Try this in tennis shoes first. It's great for training to control your bike when a tire goes flat at speed.

All for now.
